My bosses daughter is getting married on Saturday and we are going to the wedding. Do you think it is a big deal if we don't go to the church? We decided not to and a co worker is really giving me a hard time about not going. She is throwing my own wedding in my face, asking how I'd feel if no one came to my church.
Mind you, FH is taking the last part of his CPA exam on the 17th and wants the afternoon to study. And everything is not really close to my house either. It's at least an hour drive.

Re: Question
I dont really think its a big deal. You're busy and its not too close. Its not like your boss is going to freak out if you don't come right?

Re: Question
That's a tough one. I know when one of my co-workers got married last year her boss traveled almost an hour to go to the church. it is a huge inconvenience. But then again it is her daughter.
Do you think your boss would notice if you weren't there? That day there are probably a otn of things going on in her head. I feel your FH's pain as mine is studying for his physical therapy exam. He would want to study too. Is there a library or coffee shop he can study in near by?

Re: Question
do what you gotta do! sometimes this happens. maybe you could bring a friend to the ceremony instead of FH--and then go to reception with FH later.
i'm sorry but studying for CPA exam takes MUCH MORE precendent over a boss' daughter wedding. if someone told me they missed the ceremony for that--i'd be okay with it. it's a better reason than 'i just didn't want to go'

Re: Question
I should also mention that I don't even work for him anymore. The company we worked for got sold and I had to find a new job. And the co-worker is a former co-worker, I don't work with her anymore either.

Will he notice if you're even there?! That day is so overwhelming to begin with. Eh....just don't go!

tough luck on ur friend. he/she prob doesnt want to go alone.

Re: Question
I don't even think that your boss is going to notice that your not there. There will be soo many other things going on at that moment. And you do have a valid excuse, your not just saying that you can't or don't wanna go. JMO

Re: Question
I wouldn't worry to much about not going. At both my nrother's and my sister's weddings the only ones that came to the church were close friends and family. No one from work made it to the church.

Re: Question
Its your boss' daughter not a close family member, he shouldnt get offended if you dont go to a church...I think its fine if you just go to the reception.

Re: Question
I wouldn't worry too much. You have a valid reason for not going to the church. YOu'll see your boss at the reception, and your boss wil be so wrapped up with her daughter's wedding, she probably won't really notice that you're not at the ceremony

Re: Question
I don't think its a big deal. You have a legit reason. Your co-worker should keep her rude opinions to herself !!!

I don't think it is a big deal if you are busy. If you could find a way to go, that would be nice...but if not, then don't sweat it.

Re: Question
not a big deal i think~ a lot of people usually don't goto the church ceremony and in my experience, only close friends and family go anyway to the church. but then again, i've only been to 15-20 weddings in the past 4 years so not sure if that counts ur coworker probably doesn't want to feel alone - some people can't deal with individuality

Re: Question
I do not think it is necessary to go to the church if you can't. Your FH CPA is important so he should study that afternoon.
