question???

are we suppose to do a bridal regestry(sp) before we have the engagement party??

Re: question???

You don't have to. We didn't. But then again our engagement party was a surpise. IMO if you don't register you have a better chance of getting $$$(that's what happened in our case) and the cash comes in handy when booking those vendors. . .

Re: question???

If you did it would probably be easier on your guests. They are probably going to bring gifts so you might as well get things that you want rather than 20 picture frames!

Re: question???

Our e-party is soon, but we didn't register because we rather get money so we can put it towards the wedding.

A lot of people do register before the e-party though.

Its completely up to you whatever your preference is

Re: question???

If you want money, you should probably not register yet, and have your parents / bridal party tactfully bring up what you want IF anyone asks (remember, gifts are technically optional at an E-Party). Something like, 'oh, they aren't registered yet. But they're trying really hard to save for a down payment on a house...' or something like that.

Re: question???

We're not...our e-party is next Sunday and I have been getting so many phone calls asking where we are registered. I feel bad and don't want to tell people we dont want toasters or picture frames and what we can use is money, but thats why we didnt register. We honestly have no room for towels and china right now. We need to save money for the wedding and I will register about a year before the wedding. I got good advise from the Fortunoff rep today at a bridal expo. She said to register for china and crystal first. Its more expensive so it takes longer for that stuff to get purchased, then about 6 months before register for the everyday stuff, appliances, etc because companies discontinue things all of the time to add new handles, change the color, anything and something you register for, or a theme you want, may become discontinued and then you are left with some odd pieces (she said that happens a lot with appliances and linens)....so we are just waiting.

We registered. Everyone kept asking if we did. We only put a few things on like vases, picture frames, and our formal china. we got 11 out of 18 of our fomal china so far. it's good for people who don't like to give money. Even though you perfer it. But if you don't register you might get soemthing you don't like. Were not adding anything more to it untill later this summer/fall.

Re: question???

Yeah we didn't register cuz we'd rather have the cash, but honestly some people don't get it and they think your being rude...

Re: question???

I started to registry already and I'm not having a party. It makes it easier for the people and at least you are getting gifts that you want.
