Question...

For those of you who did Pre Cana or are being married by a religious official (dont know if thats the correct wording, but you get my drift) did they tell you that you couldnt have sex from the day you met them until your wedding day???

Re: Question...

Pre cana for us was more about us as a couple. They focussed on things that affect you as a couple in life and how to become stronger as a couple. I have to say that pre cana was really informative. If I was told that I could not be intimate to my wedding day I would definitely think that was strange.

Exactly! the sessions def. took place around issues that affect married couples i.e. financial problems, children, jobs, big decisions, communication etc... we talked about all that..but then he asked us to remain 'pure' until our wedding day...I dunno **shrugs shoulders**

I would have giggled if ours said that to us! That is the strangest thing I have ever heard

Re: Question...

Ours told us that the church would 'prefer' it if we weren't intimate prior to the ceremony (from our first meeting with him, to our wedding day). I thought my Fh was going to fall off his chair

We did however 'stay away from each other' for a month prior and that was good for us................

You girls are too funny. Fh wasnt to happy when he said that either. Well, its good to know that I am not the only one who found that strange. I mean, one thing is to suggest it but its another thing to kinda demand it..yknow. Dont get me wrong, he didnt say it in a mean or offensive way..hes a great man and a wonderful Pastor...just wanted to know if that was the norm...

I just feel guilty now...FH and I went upstate (stayed at his parents house)..and the topic came up (he has his own room up there but doesnt live there) and I said to him, 'How would that look in the eyes of God..' and he actually came back with a logically response..he said, 'God know that we really love eachother..we didnt meet eachother yesterday and started sleeping together...that is why we are getting married, because we are in love' but stupid silly me responds.. 'Yea, uh huh...thats the same line a guy give girl when they are dying to get in their pants...'

Girls...I did submit into temptation..is that really bad???

Re: Question...

We were told in pre-cana (or at the FOCCUS meeting, I can't remember which) that it's 'suggested' that we refrain from having sex from that point until after the wedding. The priest never mentioned anything about it at our meeting though.

Re: Question...

No there was no memtion of that...bascially with our Pre Cana the church had 3 different couples from newlyweds to 50yrs of marriage talk to us about marriage and etc... the only thing that came up that I thought the Preist was going to have a heart attack was when one couple turned about and said if you feel that a big fight is about to happen between you and your partner.... strip down naked and then try fighting most likey you'll try not to laugh more than trying to pick a fight. it was so funny especially the face the priest had ....wish I had a camera

No, they never said anything about it. We just finished it up today as a matter of fact.

The host couple mentioned that at my precana as well

Re: Question...

no not at all... no mention of anything of the sort.

the Pre-Cana couple did suggest that we go to Confession before the ceremony...but you realyl should be goign to Confession before a Sacrament anyway... but that would 'cover' the sex issue too

at ours we had confession first ( all we had to say was premarital sex) and then they encouraged us to wait until the wedding so it would be special and something to look forward to
