Who can give us an answer on this?

You'll need the original to change your SS card and license. They only need to see it though, so you'll get to keep it.

You'll want to make a lot of copies, maybe around 15-20 (I'm in the process now!).

This is who I need to get copies to in order to change the name:
My employer - to change payroll and tax forms
(they also need a copy of the new social security card for the tax reasons)
Insurance Company
ALL Credit Cards
Utilities - phone, cable, electric etc
Bank (s)


Basically any company that has your maiden name, will need a copy of the license in order to change that.

Doesn't cost anything to change your SS Card or license. The only thing I believe there is a fee for is changing a car registration...... But, that doesn't apply for me b/c I don't have a car (live in BK).

To get another original marriage certificate, I think it's only $10-15 for each one you request.

No charge on anything else, cc's, banks etc - just a matter of contacting them and mailing in the correct info (ML) - and yes, it's a royal pain in the butt!!!
