FH and I have so much debt but 95% of it is student loans and unless we win the lottery it isnt going away anytime soon. our loans are more than a house costs...so we are making sure we are cc debt free and only have the loans and cars before we tackle the house next fall.

We only have student loan debt and a car payment. But, the student debt payment is what I like to call my 'small condo of debt'. We decided to make the minimum monthly payment (maybe + 100). Any extra money will go toward a downpayment on a house instead of hte loans.
Otherwise I have this image of us turning 40, debt free and HOMELESS

FH just enrolled back in classes to finish up his BA....so we are really trying to just pay everything off right away. He had a ton of debt that he just paid off and he never wants to have things pile up like that again...so we are really just trying to pay things off as we go....as I just buy another pair of shoes that I dont really need yet felt the urge to buy them...I am sick!

I live in debt. However, DH and I have a joint CC that we used for wedding related purchases. Once the wedding was over and we deposited all of our money, we paid off that CC right away. So, as a couple we have no debt.
As individuals, that's a different story.

FH and I paid off one credit card each with our individual federal tax returns. Now, we are each paying off two other credit cards, putting more towards the higher interest card until that's paid off. We actually took all of our credit cards out of our wallets last night and placed them in an envelope marked DO NOT USE!! :-P
We still both have student loans and car loans to worry about, but those will get paid over time.
I still have some debt that. . .is a long story that I would rather not get into on here. Let's just say that you can't always trust a family member. . . It's being VERY SLOWLY paid off, so hopefully that doesn't screw FH and I over!!!
