Alright...I need your opinion ladies.....I am making a list of people for the wedding and I am stumped about one person. My brothers mother in law. My mother says no(she doesn't care for her) but I am not sure. She is usually at all the family functions. What do you think? BTW she is kind of a pain and tends to be a bit embarrassing.

Re: Question
Your brother's MIL sounds like a bit of a stretch to me. Are you close with your SIL? Have you been to your bro's MIL's house? How long have they been married and she been a part of the family?
I thought for a brief moment about inviting my FSIL's MIL and then realized that it would be way silly since she's nothing to me at all even though we've met a bunch of times.
If you're inviting 300 people and she'd just be one more person it's one thing, but if you've got a tight-knit family and keeping your list on the smaller side, I say it's fine not to. Just my opinion...

If it were me, I'd invite her but that is JMO...
For me just about everyone on my side of the family is embarrassing so what is one more person!

I agree. No point in burning that bridge now. And it would be especially inappropriate to not invite her if she's invited to the other family functions. Don't worry about her being embarrassing - she'll just be one of many guests.

Re: Question
I say yes, she should at least be invited, only to maintain a good relationship in the family. I have a few of those people too....so I know how you feel. In the end though, you'll feel better that you did!

Re: Question
If she is usually at the family functions, I'd say that inviting her would be the nice thing to do. We invited FH's brothers MIL, FIL & SIL because they are a close part of the family. They didn't expect the invite but were thrilled and 2/3 will be coming.
