question....

question....

Do the grooms parents walk into the same song as the brides? Can they walk into 2 different songs? How does that part work?

I'm thinking about having my mother and grandmother walk into an upbeat irish song... called McNamara's Band (McNamara is my mom's maiden name and strangely enough my grandmother's maiden name as well - no incest going on though so get your mind out of the gutter)... but then I don't know what to do about his parents???

My bridal party is walking into the Bouncing Souls... a song called Ole (its a punk song) and John and I are walking into a song by Dropkick Murphys... it's called Black Velvet Band (another punk song) but we are adding live bagpipers and maybe a drummer for it.

I would need a song for his parents that match the other songs in a way. And I have no idea what to use becuase they can't walk into McNamara's Band.... but if I'm supposed to do the same song for all parents... then i have to nix the McNamara's Band idea. I'm confused!!!!

Hahahaha! yea that was kinda part of my problem when I was booking DJ's. My taste and my friends taste in music is somewhat different than the norm .... so it was soo important for us to book a DJ that would be willing to play the occasional off beat song.

Oh actually do you remember a long long a$$ time ago I FM'd you for the first time ever asking about DJ's????

haha.. So you like to souls too ehh?? Hahahaha!

That's called I'm shipping up to Boston. Another good song...but too much Irish, no? I'm Irish but not everyone there is as Irish as I am. I don't want too much... do you think that's too much?

Also, I'm only doing the live bagpipers for John and I...so with the intro to that song (I'ts an amazing into)... it just might be too much? Or maybe I'm over thinking it?? haha... see confused girl here!?!?!?!

Someone said they did 2 songs, one for them and one for everyone else.

MY MOH told me that she just went to a wedding and every couple that came out in the bridal party had a different song so I think you're ok. I think we're using one for the parents and one for the bp

THANK YOU SOO MUCH FOR THAT!! I was worried it would end up being too many songs... and people would be like 'enough already!'... haha!

I love that you love them too! I'm always surprised by how many brides on her know and love that band! Makes me smile!!!

What's interesting about Dropkick Murphys is that they actually sing a ton of old old old Irish songs... like some songs are from 1845!!!!! And they punk them up!!! haha! My grandmother used to play the original versions of these songs for me as a kid and I loved them... so the songs I chose actually have a lot of meaning to me because of that. They play other songs too... but a good handful are covers from super old Irish songs... and if you look up the lyrics... some are sooo funny... others are just sooo sad! There's a lot of history there. Actually... my all time favorite Dropkick song is Green Fields of France... and I have to say... their version of that song is the ABSOLUTE BEST I HAVE EVER EVER EVER HEARD!!!!!

I chose Black Velvet Band to walk into... but a bagpiper will have to create a beginning for it bc Dropkick just jumps right into that song... so I need an intro first! That song is a funny one. It's about a very good looking hooker (with eyes like diamonds and a black velvet band in her hair) who steals something from someone else and frames a drunk guy in a bar. He then gets shipped out to Australia because he gets arrested (that's what they did back then). Then he starts saying... beware of this girl becuase she will get you good and loaded on whiskey and before you know it you will be shipped out to Australia. It's kinda a funny upbeat type of song.

Think about it though, it's really only a few seconds, right? They don't play the entire song, who cares!! It's your wedding and that's when everyone gets most excited anyway!
