Shaun's aunt passed away in September, and his uncle is pretty much on his death bed...

Re: Question

I voted for the programs.

But if they were known for dancing a lot or people associate them with a certain song, then maybe you could dedicate a dance to them? It's hard to say...you don't want people to get weepy, KWIM?

Re: Question

this is a tough call, but i think the first dance is about you guys and it's a super happy occasion. writing something affectionate in the program just seems more appropriate.

Re: Question

hmmm... good question i think they're both really nice ideas but i think the dedicating the dance idea is different and special!

Re: Question

Re: Question

Its up to you but Id put in the programs, your first dance is supposed to be something special between you two, not a sad moment and then everytime you hear that song you will think of them (not a bad thing) ......I lost my dad and grandpa he lost 3 brothers and his dad.....we are honoring them in the programs so no one is hysterical during any part of our ceremony or reception (we want it to be a happy day, just not forgetting those we loved and lost)

Re: Question

I voted for the programs. Your first dance is something special between you and FH. Or maybe later you can have a special dance dedicted to them

Re: Question

I would write something in the programs.

Re: Question

You could dedicate a separate dance instead of your first dance to them. I think that it is a great idea either way.

I agree - you don't want to depress people at the start of your wedding.

Re: Question

Re: Question

I voted for the programs. I feel that the ceremony is the most meaningful part of a wedding, so it would a great way to remember them and honor the impact they had on your lives.

Sorry for your loss.

Re: Question

I think your first dance should be special for just you and FH and I don't think it's the time to make a memorial. I do think it would be nice to mention it in the program. Some people are more emotional than others and might really break down if an 'announcement' is made (especially if the death is recent) and I'm not sure that a wedding is a great place for that . . . it should be a happy day IMO.

i agree with this. if not the program, maybe you could have another dance however that you dedicate and also the dj could invite others up who knew one or both of the people. but yes, i think the first dance should be a joyous moment that his aunt, if living might want you two to enjoy for yourselves, only

Re: Question

Programs. You don't want everyone getting choked up thinking of loved ones that have passed on during your first dance.

Re: Question

Programs. That way family members can always look at them and remember what you both did for them.
