I am pretty much lost when it comes to the first step in wedding planning! I really want to get married in a Church (Saint Raphaels is my Parish) so should I go to my Priest and ask his what dates are available before I chose a venue or vice versa? I know I can't really pick a date before this.... Please Help!!!!

Re: Question
Hmm, well we actually booked our reception hall first and THEN gave the church our date--but personally for us the reception hall was more important than the church. We did it about a year in advance. Maybe you can shop around for reception halls, get some dates and then contact the church to run those dates by the priest?

Re: Question
i would highly recommend going to the church first if you really want to get married there. FH and I booked the RH first and then went to church only to find out that our date was booked already - a year and a half in advance! Luckily, the RH still had a lot of open dates and we just pushed our date back one week

Re: Question
From what I've read about wedding planning, you are supposed to book the church first. There are lots of RH's.

Re: Question
We booked the RH first, but my FH cousin is a priest who is marrying us and he told us when we went to the Church not to say we booked a RH because the Church believes getting married is a sacrament and not a party. Just to give you the heads up if you book RH first. Also you can call the Church and tell them the day you are looking to get married and they can tell you if that date is still available. HTH

Re: Question
if you definatly want to get married at your church, i would speak to the priest to find out what dates are available. There are plenty of RH out there where you will be able to find your date, but if you book your RH and the church does not have that date available, you may not be able to get married there...

Re: Question
we actually booked the RH before booking the date at the church, but we booked the RH about a year and half in advance. Our church didn't even have the '2011 book' available to write in our date. They said to call up at the beginning of 2010 and they will write us in the 2011 book so that's what we did.
