I had my regular dr. appt. yesterday - I am 30 weeks. I have been sent to L&D 2x so far due to contractions, but each time my cervix has been closed and the baby is fine. At yesterday's appt. the dr. checked my cervix and told me that it is a little soft and has shortened and thinned a bit (but no dilation). She also said the baby's head was very low. She said she was not overly concerned, and that if I make it to 34 weeks that would be fine. Has anyone else had an experience like this - does this mean that it is probable that I will deliver early? The dr. won't say one way or another - it is always 'anything can happen', etc. Anyone's input would be appreciated!

Re: Question about 30 Wk. Dr. Appt.
Sorry to say that effacement could mean nothing. Your body is preparing to deliver. Of course it could mean you are going to deliver early but there are no guarantees... you could be 2 weeks late... Sorry I know that was not much help. The baby is going to come when he/she is ready

It could been that you are going early or you migh go right on time... If i were you i would make sure that this weekend my bags are packed and you are ready to go in a moments notice... Your body does strange things when you are pregnant...remember that!!! and good luck

Thats tough to say! Sounds to me like your Dr. is being cautious. I guess she really cant commit to anything. I would just be prepared for anything at this point! Good luck. I have my 30 week tonight. Is this when they start checking your cervix?

No - I don't think they normally check at 30 weeks, but she checked me because of my contractions.
