I went to one bridal store and tried on a VERY plain Morilee that I loved. It was relatively inexpensive but just what I was looking for.
Then I went to another store and tried on something MUCH more expensive and with a little more sass (for lack of a better word). This store told me that if I wanted they could order me the Morilee if I decided to go with that dress.
After days of driving back and forth, and trying them on, I decided that I liked the simpler of the two dresses. That is the one that stuck in my heart and mind. The store with the more expensive dress, then decided to tell me that, they could NOT get the Morilee, that Morilee was a cheap designer and didn't hold a torch to other gown.
My question is this...do you think that was a sales tactic? Is Morilee really perceived as a bottom of the barrel designer? HELP?!?

Re: Question about a gown....
I personally thing wedding gown prices can get our of cotnrol. We all want to bea beautiful princess for our weddings, but that does not mean that you have to spend thousands on the dress! If you love that dress and that is the one who cares!!!! You have to be happy wearing that dress and if it look like a cheap dress the felt like a cheap dress you probably would not have fallen in love with it!!! I am sure it was a sales tactic of some sort... not a very good one if you ask me!

Re: Question about a gown....
Stick to your guns!!! it def sounds like a sales tactic!! How rude to try to put down your dress!! I work in sales(eyeglasses at a vision center) And we have frames for 19$ and up to 149$ AND I WOULD NEVER TRY TO MAKE THE PERSON GETTING A 19$ FRAME FEEL BAD ABOUT IT! I would have been mildy insulted if my bridal sales person tried to say my dress was a bottom of the barrel designer! They should try to make you fell sooo happy about the dress and not try to jerk you into buying the more expensive dress!! and Morilee has very nice dresses! sorry so long but i was annoyed for you!

Re: Question about a gown....
Go with your gut! If it's telling you to go with a certain dress go for that one. You don't want to buy a dress from an expensive store and then wish you had that other dress. There are MANY gorgegous dresses that are inexpensive and I think it was a little rude that she told you that. Probably a sales tactic. ALSO, who cares if it is, no one is going to know how much you spend on your dress and where you got it unless you tell them.
GOOD LUCK!

Re: Question about a gown....
I don't think Mori Lee is a cheap designer like the sales person told you. If you do a search on here you will see that a lot of girls have gotten Mori Lee dresses and they are all really nice. I think they are just playing on your emotions knowing that you couldn't make up your mind so they saw an opportunity to get you to get the more expensive dress. If I were you I would NOT buy my dress at that store. Call them back and tell them thanks for the help but you will find a bridal salon that can order the dress for you. I bet you they will call you back and say that they were able to get the dress for you.
Go with your gut and if you couldn't get the 'plain' dress out of your head, then that's obviously the dress for you. :)

Re: Question about a gown....
if you know the name of the other designer i'd send them an email/letter/voice mail telling them that they have a dress store selling their product and as much as you like their product it just isn't 'you' and tell them what horrible representation this store is supplying for that maker. so then the maker will pull their dresses from that store and that store will be scr ew ed.
sorry, just showing my bi tc hy side. I had ONE woman tell me the dress I like (but have not found in person) was 'out of style' I told her off and walked out. when it comes down to things like dresses, its what you picture yourself in from the time you're a little girl... no one has the right to knock you down!

i think that you should go with the dress you want and have your heart set on. Who cares who the designer is or how much it costs?? if the dress makes you feel like a million bucks, then thats better then a dress that doesnt right??
get the dress you want, the lady was being rude and insulting.

First off Mori Lee is NOT A CHEAP DESIGNER!!! He is in most of the better store...so you were lied to. I think you should go with your heart and get the dress that makes you happy and if that is the simpler Mori Lee then go back to the orignal store and order it from them. I think the second store was just trying to get the sale. Good Luck!

Re: Question about a gown....
I say go to a different store. They sound like first class jerks there, and if you're going to be spending that kind of money and energy, you should be working with upbeat and positive people.
I loved my Mori Lee dress. I got it on Craig's List so it was way way underpriced, so I'm not sure how much it would've been new (the woman I bought it from said it was $900 new, but I don't know). It was gorgeous, simple, had lovely beading, and I felt like a princess on my wedding day.
You have to do what feels right to you. This is your wedding. It only happens once.

Re: Question about a gown....
Mori Lee is definitely NOT a cheap designer. My cousin wore a Mori Lee dress and it was beautiful! There are lots of places in LI that carry Mori Lee, and I say go for the dress you want and shop around until you find a place that treats you with respect. The reason for price differences is often in the details of how it's made. My mom knows a lot of seamstress stuff, and she was comparing the dresses I was trying on. THe more expensive ones have finished seams on the inside, the lining may be better quality, and they might use a finer type of satin/silk taffeta (inexpensive ones are often polyester). It's up to you whether those upgrades are worth a few K or not. Don't let the price make your decision but rather what you love.

If you like the dress, get it! it's your decision & I think that it was all just a sales tactic!
