Question about a neighborhood in nassau county...

DH and I went to a 1st Birthday party last night in this town in Nassau. Forgot the the name. It was exit 28 South on the norhern state and the exit was called Willis Avenue. We got to the party a little early so we walked around the neighborhood and we really liked it. The blocks we walked down were really cute and kind of reminded us of queens.

Not that we are looking for a house cuz we so can't afford it but we wouldn't mind living in this neighborhood. I heard houses are even more expensive in nassau...

Anyways I was just wondering what the town was...I thew out the invitation so I can't look there.

That's the Mineola/Albertson area.

That's Albertson/Williston Park. And I dont' think anyone would mind living there - it's absolutely gorgeous and therefore, of course, unbelievably expensive.

That stinks how unbelievably expensive are. What a shame. Honestly this was such a nice area. DH doesn't like going out to far in LI but he wouldn't mind this area...still close to queens where he works and not too far from his family in Suffolk Co.

The only problem would be for me and my commute. Don't know how close the mineola LIRR stat is...depending on the street you live in...

It is a very nice neighborhood, very 'well off' Craig teaches a lot of students in that area. My sis teaches in Mineola too and she loves it. We were actually considering this neighboorhood as a possibility for our next home, depending on how much we get once we sell the house I would love to live here, but even with the money we'd get from selling our house, I just think it would be too expensive to live comfortably

You're right...

the only way I can afford a house is if I hit a lotto jackpot...

it's just a shame that ther's no decent middle when it comes to homes in Nassau County. I mean, what are our options now? You can either spend 300K on a POS in the ghetto or 400 - 500K to live in a nice house in a good school district and pay close to 10K in taxes..... I just don't know how people are doing it today!

I live in MIneola and grew up there...its rediculously over priced because of the railroad and of the hospital. The houses are average size capes and colonials.

The schools are decent but not what they used to be when I went to school. Some are overcrowded

I don't know how people do it either. Especially when I see how high the prices are for houses. I honestly don't think I'll ever be moving.

The best thing is that I pay very very cheap rent cuz my parents are my landlords ...and we still can't afford to buy a house. We are saving money in the bank but I don't think we'll ever buy a house. My parents own two two family houses in Astoria and people are always like ...how did your parents manage to do that. They did it at the right time they bought those houses years and years ago. when the market was not high...

my mom always tells me that one day of those houses will be mine and DH's...

The Mineola school district part of Williston Park is not that expensive. There are houses around 450,000.
