Question about a reception hall in Long Island

Hi Ladies, my cousin is getting married this year and her reception is at the Carlton something in Bethpage. Its a country club of some sort. I personally could care less because my FI, me, and my parents will not be invited (long messed up story) but my other cousin who is a BM in my wedding is attending and she has never heard of this place and has no idea what to expect.

I told her I would check with my girls on the board and get feedback about this place. What is the food like, what do they serve, (cost p/p), how is the service, how many parties go on at the same time, etc...

Anything else you know or if there is a link to the place please let me know as well.

Thanks.

i have never been there--but i have heard it is an upscale place---price per person is expensive and they do a great wedding--great service---a top of the line menu (carving stations/etc.) & the food is delicious!---i hope this helps a little
it's called carlton on the park---out of curiousity, what aspect of the place is your cousing unsure of?

I've never been there but have heard nothing but great things about it. Pretty upscale though!

Re: Question about a reception hall in Long Island

Are you talking about Carlyle on the Green (which is is Bethpage) or Cartlun on the Park (which is in East Meadow, in Eisenhower Park).

Regardless of which one it is, both are considered high-end catering facilities on LI. Carlyle is a little more open and airy IMHO, with a little more of a country club feeling. Carltun is a little more traditional, with mahogany paneling and period furniture. But, like I said, both are very nice, with excellent reputation.

Formality and dress really depends on the bride's preferences and the timing of the wedding. Usually, Saturday evenings are more formal, daytime and Sunday a little less formal.

I've never been there, but I hear it is quite fancy and expensive. I think it's about $200-250 a person plus a site fee. I know when people I work with go there for lunch they get all dressed up. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a black tie wedding.

Hope that helps

ok-- i would say to dress pretty fancy/formal (but it depends on the bride but if they are having it there, i would say that it is most likely formal!) and that it's definitely upscale----i know there is a website i'll try to find it for ya!

Re: Question about a reception hall in Long Island

Its the one in Bethpage.

Its a friday night wedding. The way my cousin is, it will end up being Black Tie.

I am so glad I am not invited.

My cousin who is invited keep saying she really doesnt want to go and if she does she's going to Burget king before hand.

Thanks everyone. I also went to weddingchannel.com and was able to get a little background info. I emailed my cousin that is attending and I told her better hit Burger king first.

Thanks everyone for all your help

Re: Question about a reception hall in Long Island

If its in Bethpage, then its the Carlyle on the Green. I was married there in October and it is a truly wonderful facility. There is only one wedding going on at a time there. The service is, as someone else said, top-notch. Prices vary a lot. If its a Friday night, she's probably not paying as much for her wedding as a Saturday night there would cost. As far as what to wear, I think whatevr she would normally wear to a nighttime wedding would be appropriate. The Carlyle is not a country club, but it is on a golf course. If you have any specific questions feel free to forum mail me.

Edited to add: their website is www.carlyleatbethpage.com

Re: Question about a reception hall in Long Island

Just a correction for anyone who reads this thread in the future looking for info on the Carlyle. There is no site fee, and the per person is not as high as $250 as mentioned above. (Its more like half that for day time/off season weddings)

Oh and I have no idea why you would suggest Burger king first! The food is plentiful and very very yummy!

Re: Question about a reception hall in Long Island

It was a joke because my cousin was told theres no pasta, its little kieshes, stuffed crab, etc and my cousin doesnt eat that stuff. My cousin that was invited is a very weird eater, no meats, pastas with no sauce of any kind, hates seafood, and doesnt eat salad so a place like that would have nothing for her so as a joke we kept saying hit burger king first

There were little hot dogs served at my Carlyle wedding, and I had a pasta station! She would have been fine at mine.
