Are there any side effects to skipping birth control for a month? I've read on here about it...and was just wondering if there were any side effects of it. Thanks...

Re: Question about BC...
I never had obvious side effects but it totally throws your cycle off. Are you thinking of going without or just not getting your period for a month?

No..just not taking the last week and starting the new one so I skip my period (so I won't have it on my wedding day!!)

Re: Question about BC...
It depends on what pill you take- if you take a triphasic one- like ortho tri cyclin it could cause you basically to have a period all month. If you take one where the hormones are all the same (all the pills are the same color) then its less likely that that will happen, but you can still have spotting.
Don't skip it the week of your wedding. Do it a few months before so if you do have any spotting it wont be on your honeymoon!

I've never had a problem skipping the inactive pills with triphasic BC... It really depends on your body's reaction.
Talk to your doctor. Definitely do it earlier rather than later -- the first time you do it, you could certainly have spotting or cramping. Me, personally, I've never had a problem.
If you take something like Seasonale, though, I don't think I would skip the inactive pills....

Re: Question about BC...
I'm on ortho tri cyclen lo and I did this while on a cruise last year. I had some spotting during the week - but that was it. I'm planning on doing this again next week for my honeymoon.

I think it all depends on how your body reacts. I would talk to your doctor. Try to do start this a few months before though because you may experience spotting.

Re: Question about BC...
I take yasmin...and I know a lot of ppl that take it that skip their period all the time. I tried to once and I felt lousy. I had really bad spotting, cramps, headache...I was miserable!! I think it depends on the individual!

You should speak to your doctor. Mine told me that she would work it out with me and tell me how to take it so that I would not have it for my wedding.

Re: Question about BC...
I am doing the same thing for my July wedding, so I tried it out this month. I only got it for 1 day and then it stopped. No side effects

I've done it before, no terrible side effects. Once I had a little heavier bleeding the next month, but nothing awful

I took othro tri cyclen 777 and took it back to back several times and never had a problem but ask your GYN. maybe you could switch to seasonal you take it for 3 months straight without getting it.
