question about birth control

i'm on hold with my dr's office now (like I've been every day this week until I give up and hang up)

i am on the orthro evra patch. i have to refill it monthly. i found out in nov that my refill was going to end in dec. so i tried getting a new appt with my dr. but they were booked all dec. so i told the nurse that i needed a new prescription mailed to me. never got it.
so then i ran out of the orthro evra the day before thanksgiving (the start of my 2nd week in my cycle). so i went to the pharmacist and begged for 1 but he said he couldn't - he'd have to call the doctor to do that. So I didn't have the patch for Wed, or Thus (Thanksgiving) but Fri evening the pharmacist called and said they could give me 1 more refill per my doctor's orders. So I didn't get it until Saturday. So I was patchless for 3 days during my 2nd week. I put it on Saturday but Saturday evening I got a light period. It lasted until yesterday. But I wore the patch all week.

I keep trying to call my doctor to talk to him and either they keep me on hold while he's with a patient to the point where I cna't stay on the line, or they say he'll call but but he never does (their office staff is horrible. But I love my doctor. I don't know how he does it with such a bad staff).

So does anyone think that I totally messed up my cycle?

Grr...STILL on hold.....this is insane!

Thanks

Re: question about birth control

That is really horrible and frustrating. You should be able to get in touch with your doctor. My doctor will call the pharmacy to refill prescriptions. I don't know why yours wouldn't.

Your cycle will get back to normal as long as you keep wearing the patch.

Edited:. question about birth control (I got my answer)

I finally got a nurse on the line!
She said it's OK it's called breakthrough bleeding and I shouldn't be concerned.
And she moved some people around to get me in before Christmas.

I only started with this guy last year because my old gyno was on LI and too hard to get to when I moved.

This guy is great - I've only seen him once though. But I know others that go to him and they said he's great but the office is always busy. They either need to stop taking new patients (although that's how I got in) or expand the practice.

Thanks

Re: question about birth control

that is really horrible, I do not know the answer to your question but at my dr's office, the pharmacist can call and speak to the dr or nurse and when you call about birth control refills......... you do not have to speak to the dr, someone just pulls your file, that is just wrong! I dont blame you for being frustrated
