Shouldn't the rate you get be lower than what the typical rate is? I just got a quote from a hotel, but then I checked the rates at expedia and they were lower than what I was quoted.

Cpoy the quote into an email or print, etc and go back to them with proof.

Yeah, it's a question of how far out you are and other stuff. I got a group rate of $125 for one of my hotels, and I booked it on their website using my grandmother's senior discount for $84. I asked the guy about this and he said that there's a limited amount of rooms at the lower rate or something. Hotel pricing is weird.

That is pretty weird. When we blocked rooms, we were locked in at a lower rate than all the others. I believe that's how it is supposed to be.

Re: Question about blocking hotel rooms
The hotels I looked into told me that the rates on the internet are only for people who book through the internet...that is why my group rates are higher.
I'm just going to tell my guests to look on the internet first, and if it is a better rate, then book it there!
