Do your BM's expect their day of jewelry as gifts?
Because if they do and you don't buy it then what?
But what if they don't expect it and go out and buy something?
Know what I mean?

Re: Question about BM's gifts (maybe silly)
i know i was thinking the same thing. Its nice for all the BM to have matching jewelry. There are a lot of websites and places to go for inexpensive jewelry. I am going to give them probabbly necklace and matching earrrings.

Are you decided on whether or not you will provide the BMs with their day of jewelry? If so, let them know as soon as possible--either way. Since your decision may affect them financially, they should know beforehand. Surprise them with other BM gifts if you want.

That's totally up to you if you want to spend the money on their jewelry - I gave my BMs their jewelry so they didn't bug me with the questions... it made it easier. It's not anything expensive the whole set (earrings, necklace and bracelet = $25 from Tri-County)... on the other hand, one of my BMs gave us a really nice piece of jewelry from Swarovski (a necklace or bracelet - something different for each of us) and we chose to wear what we wanted with it... she didn't care.

I'm going to give my BMs their jewelry at the rehearsal dinner. I'm getting them earrings, a necklace and a bracelet. Maybe a bag or something to hold them in.

Re: Question about BM's gifts (maybe silly)
Well I was thinking about getting them jewelry but something they could wear regularly. It may not be dressy enough, but I didn't want to say 'btw I'm not buying your jewelry for the day'.
And if it's not that dressy I don't want them to think they should wear it that day.

I'm afraid I'm confused. It sounds like you want to include jewelry for your BM gifts. You would like that jewelry to be useful enough for them to wear every day, but there is the possibility that it might not be dressy enough for the wedding.
Overarching that, you are also asking if it is customary for brides to give BMs the jewelry the BMs will wear on the day of the wedding.

As the pp said, the answer to the last question is up to you.
Is that correct?
ETA--clarification.

My girls sure didn't expect it. I kept having to find ways to dodge the endless questions about 'What jewelry do you want us to wear?' the couple weeks before the wedding.

Re: Question about BM's gifts (maybe silly)
PS - Of all the weddings I've been in, we only once got our DOJ as a gift... and it was only a bracelet. (The real gift was a jewelry box)
