Question about bridal luncheons...

Question about bridal luncheons...

So, what exactly do you do at one? I'm the first of my Long Island friends to get married, and my mom swears she's never heard of them, so I don't know what to do.

Is this just basically a lunch where you give the bridal party their gifts and go over last minute things? Is there anything else you're supposed to do? When does it happen?

Thanks!

there is no rule that says you have to have one. its meant to be kind of a 'thank you' to your bridesmaids' . There is nothing specific you have to do at it, it could just be a place for you all to hang out together. It could even be dinner or going out to dinner.

I don't think it is meant to be productive as it is a time for you to kick back and spend stress-free QT with the girls.

Re: Question about bridal luncheons...

I wanted to this with my girls but never had the chance. I gave out my gifts to them at the rehearsal dinner and of course to the men as well. It was a nice night, a chance for everyone to be together and me and my husband went over some last minute details and expressed our gratitude to everyone.

I dedided that when my wedding video and photo album are done to have the girls over for a luncheon. To re-unite everyone and have them look at the video and album. I am also giving each girl a picture of all of us (bridal party) together. This was in my photo contract. I think your idea is really nice to have. It has become something new to do.
I think the girls will really appreciate it. I wish I had the time to do it before hand but I definitly am still going to do it. Good Luck!!

I had a bridal dinner theme party at my house and I have to say if youre going to do anything have it somewhere or hire help b/c I did not get to enjoy or talk to the girls much because I was too busy being host. I gave them their day of jewelry and purses and at the RD I will give them their gifts. It was nice to see the girls mingle and get to know one another though.

One of my bridesmaids had the entire bridal party over (although there were only 4 BMs and 4 guys) and that's where we gave them their gifts. It was basically an informal cocktail party & we exchanged gifts. We did it 3 or 4 days before the wedding.

I don't know--I've been a bridesmaid seven times, and no one has ever thrown a bridal luncheon. I always got a thank-you gift, and some brides had batchlerette parties, but never had a luncheon.

When I went shopping for dresses with my bridesmaids recently, I bought them both lunch, so I guess this was our luncheon. We didn't do anything special though, just ate and talked.

My BP just girls is 11 and I had invited the mothers of the jr BM and FG the moms and the grandmas and 1 of my FH aunt who has helped me so much. And the kids of my BP so they didnt have to worry about babysitters, I had it catered. I had 15 adults including me and 5 kids. I wish I could do it again and be more involved. at the RD I will be so I look forward to that- that we are having at Europa in the chataeu briand.

I am going to do this since most of my girls are out of state. We are going to go to get our nails done the day before the wedding and then come back to my SIL house for a catered lunch, something very simple. I thinks its also a good way for my girls to get to know each other too. There really isn't enough time to just sit and talk at the shower.
