question about centerpiece

i have a large candelobra centerpiece and i wanted to put votive candles and pillars all around the table.
i am in the midst of purchasing candles and was wondering how you would suggest i should arrange them on the tables??

I tend to be symetrically and balanced thinking...so my suggestion would be to alternate pillar and votive around the base. Just make sure that nothing hangs down off your centerpiece that could catch fire.

How high are the candelabra? Maybe you could surround (in a little bit of a random way) the candelabra with the pillars, then do the same with the votives around the pillars. This way it gets shorter as it comes out..

Does that make sense? Can you picture what I described?

Be careful of too many candles - we had votives around our centerpiece and someone must have leaned a card on the votive holder and all the sudden we were smelling smoke!!! Thank god someone caught it quick enough, but one of our cards has a whole in it
