We are planning on getting married in wantagh and our reception is in northport..we want to take pictures inbetween at a beach (maybe jones beach? or a smaller one inbetween the 2 places?)
My question is what time should our ceremony start? (we havent booked the church yet) but out reception starts at 7:30..im not sure how long a ceremony typically takes and how long we should have to take pics in between and have travel time to get to the hall

Re: question about ceremony times/pictures
We are leaving 3 hours in between the ceremony & CH so that we have enough time in b/w to take pictures. However, we are getting married in west babylon at 3 pm and only having a ceremony (about 30 minutes). Then going to Sayville to take pictures at our RH (Land's End). It is a Friday also so there will be traffic. The photographers we spoke to said that we left plenty of time in between. It really depends on your photographer though. Every photographer needs a different amount of time depending on their style. If you have booked one I would ask them.

Re: question about ceremony times/pictures
Hi I'm in Wantagh too and having the reception at Larkfield also! So travel time is approx 30-35 mins from here to there ( on a typical day, not fri evening )if you haven't timed that. If you are planning to be married in a Catholic church you may not have a choice on how much time is betw ceremony and RH. Maria Regina for ex scheds weddings at 4pm on Fridays and that's it! you may be able to check for diff times at diff churches but if you are not a parishoner they may not want to perform the ceremony either. so check that if you are using a church. I was told a ceremony should be about 40 mins and maybe allow time for the receiving line outside the church and you may want to take some pics there too. So 1 hr might be a safer estimate. you say 7:30 for reception - - is that really Cocktail hr? or is that at 6:30? I agree theat you should check with photog on time and maybe ask them for suggestions on good place to go for those xtra pics and check the site out. they've been doing that a long time so should have good ideas on what would be convenient and pretty.
