when are the vows exchanged? before or after communion?
i am thinking of getting a singer to sing something at the church after the vows, and i am just wondering how that would fit (if at all) in the program

communion is very close to the end of mass...

You should check with your priest on the program. Every church is different. I've been to 7 weddings this year and some did it before, some did it after, I didn't know what was going on. It usually goes before communion though.

The vows are usually before the communion, but the church will give you a layout and the music coordinator will help you with the music.

i went to a wedding last month with a full mass and the vows were before the communion

The vows are before Communion, but I think the nupital blessing and the pronouncement of husband and wife/first kiss is after communion right before you walk out of church.
