I have some checks made out to 'Jennifer Sherman' and 'Jennifer Marx-Sherman,' which is not yet my legal name. I explained this to the bank, and they said I should be fine to deposit them.
Do I sign the checks as Jennifer Marx (my legal name) or whatever name is written on the check?

people frequently mis-spell my name so what I do is write my name the way its written on the check and then my actual name under it.

I don't think signing the Jennifer Sherman is ok but I think the Max-Sherman is fine.

as long as i had my marriage cert with me they let me deposit all my checks... even the ones in Shauns name only!

For deposit only Account 999999999999
and the bank said that was fine.

my bank told me, if it's made out to my maiden name only, sign the way i always have, and the ones that said Mr & Mrs, to sign it Hines-Cozza. they took them all.

Worse case you can just write Deposit Only on the back of the check. You won't be able to receive any cash back but at least there won't be any questions.

We already received some checks made our to Mr. & Mrs FH....and Apple Bank wouldn't let us deposit them until we get out marriage cert., which takes a few weeks!
I went to Chase yesterday and they said all I had to do is add FH to my account and bring a copy of the marriage license....thank god!

Ditto. Actually, once I changed my name with the bank I didn't even need that. We had our accounts joined so they know my maiden name, married name, and husband's name.

you might have to sign both names. . . my band made me sign Marie Christine P____________ and Marie Christine S______________ along with my DH signing the check too!

i didnt have any problems depositing names written to myname dh'slastname when my name hasn't changed.
i didn't have the marriage certificate with me.
i signed my name.

My bank had me sign my legal name and the name that was written on the check.
