Question about chicks

Question about chicks

we are all chicks here (for the most part anyway ) so my question is this....

I went away with some friends this weekend. While away, I noticed something. My female friend (we'll call her Sally) gets very baby-like when she interacts with her boyfriend (we'll call him Bruce) Leo called it 'damsel in distress' and I have to agree.

on the drive up there she had a hangover, so the radio had to be kept very low, or else she would yell out from the very back 'Bruce!!' and when she asked him questions, the either pouted or smiled or spoke in a teensy intsy voice. every morning he woke up and brought her a glass of water in bed...and when she couldn't bring herself to get down the mountain on her snowboard, he spent half the time on the mountain WALKING HER DOWN.

then, just yesterday, I was reading how some women pout and make sad and sighing remarks when they don't get their way, until their SO caves...

I don't do ANY of this stuff. I get my own water, I speak in a normal tone to Leo, and I would not have had him waste all his precious ski time trying to help me down a mountain...

I also do not pout and play the 'sad girl' role when I want something that I 'can't' have.

so my question is....am I weird? I asked SM if I take away some of his manhood by being TOO independent or TOO self-reliant...but, am I missing out on some intrinsic woman thing....

help me here. I am

You're not weird at all...you're normal...Im the same way...however, there are times when I get babyish and whiny and pissy and moody, and Mike attends to me, BUT I do the same for him at times as well....

Nope you are not weird, I am the same way. I don't get it either, I have a friend that behaves that way & her SO does everythinh\g she wants. I think it is that the girl wants to have some sort of control over the man & be in charge. IMO any guy that lets himself get treated like this is whipped beyond belief.

I can see ocassionally giving in to your every need, but all the time is a little ridiculous.

Re: Question about chicks

i think men are attracted by different things. i have friends that act exactly like bruce & sally or at least variations of them.

i think every relationship has a 'vibe' about it. some men like bruce my love to be 'needed' while girls like sally loved to be 'needy'. while a man like leo may love that your not 'needy'

different things work for different people. so i dont think you are weird. leo respects you and depends on you for more than just an ego boost.

I agree 100%. I am self sufficient, I am an adult, and I am a woman. This doesn't take anything away from my SM. In fact, he LOVES it. He has had whiny, clingy, overly dependent women before and he hates it. He appreciates ME.

Those other characteristics just aren't in your nature, Jess. You are a kick a$$ chick. You don't need to whine to get your way.

Re: Question about chicks

i am definitely guilty of acting like that - i dont mean to but i catch myself doing it a lot

right now we are making an apartment upstairs form my parents and i keep finding myself saying 'baaaabe how do i do this?' when if he wasnt there i would probably just figure it out - i like depending on him for manly stuff i guess

but on the other hand i baby him with different things like cooking and cleaning up after him. . . his SIL almost threw up one day because we were at a dinner with a buffet and he told me what he wanted and i just got it for him instead of making him stand on line - she said i was setting back the woman's movement or some garbage. . . but this is for a guy who wakes up at 6am to drive me to work when its snowing out. . .

i guess every relationship is different - i am sure there are plenty of people who want to barf when they see us together, oh well lol

Re: Question about chicks

I did fine on my own for many years before and without DH. I do even better with him.

That being said, I think sometimes men need to be needed. Some even lie to be made to feel as if they are, for lack of a better word, 'rescuing' a woman. Sometimes i ask DH to do things i can easily do myself. If he doesnt do them, then I do. I certainly don't whine about it. If it makes him feel responsible and 'manly', no harm, no foul.

Yes.

I've talked to the man about this - because I'm anti-being 'babied'. That's not what he's looking for. Different guys for different chicks. I've known guys who've had savior complexes (on the extreme, extreme side) or who just needed to be needed (on the more normal side).

my friend does this and I everytime. I just want to smack the bejesus out of her. He eats it up though, so what are you gonna do.

I am IO to baby voice. It is vomit inducing.

OMG Jessica - I can't even describe how nauseous that would make me - it would ruin my weekend - I really can not stand when women act that way - how F-ing annoying...

Maybe if her legs were bigger than toothpicks, she'd be able to go and get her own water and get down a friggin mountain?

Re: Question about chicks

Def not weird, you're normal!!! Most of us are prob closer to you than 'Sally' as far as behavioral issues. I'll ask Kevin for a glass of water sometimes, and he'll ask the same of me. But it's more of a 'hey, while you're up' thing or if one of us isn't feeling well. Neither of us is there to serve the other, but we like to do nice things for each other.

It really bothers me when I see/hear about women who take advantage of men like that. I mean, it completely degrades our gender and makes us look helpless!!!! Too many women have worked hard and fought for our rights to just turn around and have women like 'Sally' bring us back down.

Yeah. This would never work with Victor.
I also can not stand the 'damsel in distress' syndrome. But that's me. I am captain independent.
