Question about church programs

Question about church programs

It's a stupid question, but why do simple programs (meaning a single sheet of cardstock that has been folded in half to form a program) have ribbons?

I'm not a fan of ribbons attached to invitations or any other printed materials unless the ribbon is keeping pages together.

Has anyone seen programs without ribbons?

I've seen ribbons only on more than one page programs.

If the program is just one page folded in half like a book, there is no need for one.

My programs have ribbon but it is actually holding the inner pages and the cover together. Plus, it looks pretty!

Yeah, that's what I would expect, but at the 2 most recent weddings I've gone to, single sheet programs had ribbon...go figure!
