Its funny as a guest at a wedding you sometimes do not take notice of small things.
My question: Normally is there seating at the cocktail hour for all of your guests? I have heard no- because they rely on people mingling and not sitting down. I am always sitting at the cocktail hour feeding my face but I cannot speak for everyone else.

Re: Question about cocktail hour seating
Most places do not have enough seating and that is a big complaint of guests. Standing for an hour can be very difficult, especially in heels.

I personally hate when you can't sit and you're trying to balance a plate of food, a drink and your purse!

Re: Question about cocktail hour seating
Personally, I dont think the cocktail hour is for eating plates of food but for mingling and warming up the crowd. I never really understood that custom but most reception sites serve the sort of food you need to sit down with.
In my case, most of the food was passed hordeuvers (finger foods that only require a bite) with a few stations that required a little plate. There was some seating but most of my guests had to stand.

Re: Question about cocktail hour seating
All weddings I've been to have had chairs and tables for guests to sit down during cocktail hour, some haven't had enough but they were there. My reception hall has tables inside and outside for guests to enjoy the coctail hour.

Re: Question about cocktail hour seating
My cocktail hr has plenty of tables and chairs for people to sit and eat but it is also in a huge room big enough for people to mingle.
