I just looked on the weather website, and it lists my sunset on our wedding day as 5:38pm. My hall said it was 4:49. Does anyone have a reliable source for the correct sunset times? It's important for picture planning... my whole day is planned around 4:49!

Re: Question about correct sunset times
Honestly the 4:49 just sounds more accurate for November

Re: Question about correct sunset times
It turns out they are both kinda correct. There are different definitions of 'sunset.' For your day: Sun Set: 4:42pm Twi: 5:11pm Twi N: 5:44pm Twi A: 6:16pm Moon Rise: 10:24pm Moon Set: 12:39pm

Do you know what that means as far as prime picture taking moments?
So, I really now have 8 less minutes than I thought to get on the beach for our sunset pics? Great... it was tight to begin with!
ETA: Thanks for your help!

Re: Question about correct sunset times
It means that at 4:42pm the sun is below the horizon but there is still some light (twilight, gradually getting dark) for the next 1/2 hour. At roughly 5:11pm you would need additional outside lighting.

the sunset on my wedding day was 4:45pm, so I believe your hall is right.

The hall seems right...My wedding is Oct.28th (day before daylight savings) and my sunset is around 5:56...

Re: Question about correct sunset times
At 4:49, you're going to get really soft, optimal light. I've heard photographers call it (and the hour after sunrise) the 'golden hour'. It is bar none the best time of day, and the most flattering, to take pictures.
Keep planning at 4:49 because you will still have enough available light. They can add supplemental 'fill flash' to softly illuminate the area in front of the camera.
Towards the end of that hour, you will get those great silhouettes too. So anytime in between, you will get a bunch of different qualities of light, but all good!
