Ok so I have a question... I am trying to book a DJ for my enagagement party but the DJ's only want to book the engagement party if they are also booking the wedding...If I say I am still unsure of the wedding date and things like that it seems like they dont even want to talk to me (we've changed the date like 5 times already...) And the worst part is too they are saying if we DJ then this photographer and videographer needs to be hired so on so forth... I have never heard of DJ's pulling this stuff before...has anyone ever heard of this? Any adivce?
I have to edit this... AND p.s. I have never heard these guys DJ before...and they arent willing to let me see/hear them DJ...argh...

Re: question about DJ's, Im stressing already...
I haven't looked for DJ's yet, but that sounds crazy! Any DJ should be happy to get a night's work! Maybe go with a local one, and not a huge 'wedding' one for your engagement party. And I'd steer clear away from anyone putting that kind of pressure on me, and let them know that if I was going to consider them for my wedding, now I'm not! That's just me though, and I'm having a bad night, so take it with a grain of salt. What does that expression really mean anyway?

The sick part of this whole thing is that both DJ's ARE local DJ's AND they are also friends of my FH's family!! If that is how they do business with friends Im worried about how other people get treated...

Definitely look elsewhere, and don't use them for your wedding!

Tell them you are having a destination wedding. That should eliminate the problem of having to have them DJ the wedding as well.

honestly, if a vendor is this difficult before you even begin working with them its a sure sign that you should look elsewhere.
Most vendors are pretty flexible and willing to work with you, these DJs sounds pretty craptastic

Look somewhere else. No one will TELL you who you need to use for anything...the DJ doesnt work directly with anyone so there is no reason for that

That's crazy!!! If you really want them, tell them your getting a band for your wedding. If it was me, I would look somewhere else. I have 2 good djs. You can fm me if you'd like.

Funk that. Definitely keep looking. They have some nerve telling you that. They're probably banking on the fact that you'd be clueless and do it. They must not know you have LIW to back you up!!!!!!

I agree. We used the same DJ for our E party and wedding but they didn't know we were going to use them for the wedding and never asked when we booked them for our e party. That is ridiculous IMO

You should RUN, don't walk, in the other direction. There are a million DJs out there, just forget you even spoke to them and look at some others.

Doesn't sound right to me...I could recommend the DJ's we are using. We have heard them at 2 weddings and were real impressed. Latin Brothers Ent. I think www.LatinBrothers.com
Good luck!
