Question about Doves

Ladies who have gotten/are planning on getting doves - can you just tell me how nice they really are! I want a dove release and have spoken to Frank at wedding wings. We were all set BUT then my guy told me that he doesn't want a dove release! You know how guys are - he thinks its silly! I have to respect his feelings, but wanted some input from you guys! Thanks!

About the doves....

I had a dove release at my wedding and it was sooooo beautiful. It was the highlight of the wedding. I cannot describe the beauty in the dove release. Frank did a great job. That was the best spent $100.00. I will never forget that day and the dove release made it even more special. My husband was sceptacle at first, Why should we pay $100.00 for some pigeons for a 2 minute release and yada yada.... But I decided that it was something that I reallly wanted. So he decided to give it a chance. He was sooo impressed and now he thanks me everytime we look at the pictures! Good Luck with whichever route you choose, but I would recommend it 100%. Diva11236

Question about Doves

I am in the same situation as you. I really want the love birds, a friend teased that they'll poop on my dress and the guests, and now my fi does not want them. He thinks it's a lot of money and people wont love it as much as I think they will. I'm glad I learned about Frank, b/c he is much cheaper then the 2 places we called. Now my fi is at least considering it. I really want them and I think he'll say yes since I want them so much.

Thanks ladies

I'm going to print your responses out and share it with him. I know that he is such a wonderful man and will cave in if I REALLY want them. I wanted to hear what you had to say! I'll let you know the end result.

Re: bird poop

Frank says he doesnt feed them in the morning and thats why they dont poop on us. They fly home and eat. That was my concern too.

Question about Doves

I used Wedding Wings for our August 26th wedding and it made our day so much more special. I had my heart set on it and luckily had gorgeous weather so we were able to have it. It expressed the elation that we felt in a way that I can't explain. It was simply breathtaking.....and the pics are as well.

Something else to think about

Doves are not homing pigeons. I read on a few sites that the birds can actual die because they are not raised in the wild. They can get lost, not know how to fend for themselves or protect themselves outside of their cages. Also, with Butterflies. The same problem. The Butterflies are not 'trained' to go home so they are released and die because they are not supposed to be where they are released. I am not sure if the articles were true or not. I am just saying that the questions should be asked by all of us. It looks great in photos but if the birds are harmed in anyway or in any danger maybe it is not worth the shot.
