I thought it said on the contract that you pay the rest of the balance the day of the wedding. But my mom said I shouldn't be paying the whole amount until I pick up the pictures like weeks after the wedding? What is their policy?

Re: Question About Duet
Ok- we had the same feeling when we booked Duet. My fiance and his mom were pretty nervous about not having anything holding them to deliver the actual product. But, we spoke to a bunch of people and we also met with other photographers who had the same policy- it seems that most photographers have that policy. After much discussion, Nicole told us that we could withhold a small amount if it made us feel better but we decided that it was fine with us to pay the entire balance the day of the wedding. Their reputation is at stake if they don't deliver and they have insurance. As I said- most photography studios have this policy so we figured it's the way it is. Plus, I spoke to some brides that used them and they didn't have a problem at all. If my fiance (who is a lawyer) and his mom (who is a tough business-woman) are ok with it- than I am too.

Re: Question About Duet
I am not using Duet...but I have to pay the entire balance (except $200) before the wedding...I pay the last $200 when I get my proofs. I think it's a pretty standard practice.

Re: Question About Duet
Also, they ask that you tip 10% to the photographers which I thought was standard. My mom got all mad that I have to tip when I'm spending so much money on it already. But that is common right?

Re: Question About Duet
i posted the the same thing a few weeks ago- i called duet to see if they would do anything about it and they were not at all crazy about the idea just as i wasn't crazy about paying them the day of. so anyways we decided to do some research with other photographers- it seems to be pretty standard now for full payment on the day of! i would say if you really like them go for it- we did it and it feels better to know thats one less thing to book!

Re: Question About Duet
we had the same question when we met with them, but after seeing what others have to say about them that actually used them, we were fine paying them the day of the wedding
but definitely go with what you are comfortable with
