Question about Final Count

Question about Final Count

I know its usually good to give the RH an amount thats like 5-10 people less than your actual final amount just in case people show up.

Did any married ladies do this?

We have to give the RH the amount of people sitting per table. So obviously they're gonna know your actual #. Do you still pay for less and they get you to pay that night if all the guests show up?

Does that make sense? lol

We paid for the amount that were supposed to show up we had a few that didn't show up which ***** but oh well! I think they will make you pay for the amount that you are putting plates out for, not sure though.

im going to do this - i havent figured out exactly how yet

I might short the immediate family tables that way they'll just have to add extra places - b/c 'oops i made a mistake and didnt write down all the people'

That way if someone at a different table doesnt show - they'll just have to move the dinner ware - but they cant ask to charge us more if its not more people. Then we can always pay the extra that night if everyone shows.

That make sense?

We didn't. We gave a head count that was excatly what it was. We did however have about 4 people not show up which did $uck money wise but we had one person show up that we didn't know about and I felt really akward when they had to set a place for that person. I mean the waiters did it in like 2.2 seconds but still.

I wouldn't suggest it.

I'll crash here then. You can always ask the question on BHB.

If you give the RH an undercount, lets say not counting Joe and Mary, then you cannot have a place at a table for Joe and Mary or an escort card for Joe and Mary. You have to give the RH a list of all the guests so they can cross check against the escort cards that they put out.

What happens if Joe and Mary show up ?
Will they be offended at not having a seat ?
You will have to figure out where to seat them.

Your call, but keep in mind that you will have to have cash on hand just in case your undercounted guests show up.

i wouldnt suggest it either.
we gave them our final count and that was it.
3 people didnt show up & 2 of those people were guests of good friends so it wasnt that bad anyway!

But if you decided to do that,,, just think about this ----
if you minus 5 or 8 people - you have to minus those 5-8 seats somewhere on your seating chart - right? and then you might have a commotion if those people come and others dont

i think its just a pain in the neck, and also think about those people how they might think when they show up and the waiters and maitred are runnign around setting up seats for them

not to mention the fac that when you're spending over 20k for a wedding, i wouldnt cheap out with $500

Re: Question about Final Count

we gave them the exact head count and we had 5 people who didnt come who rsvped., and 2 people show up who rsvp NO, so we ended up paying for 3 extra people

Re: Question about Final Count

yea its real risky. my cousin who got married last april gave 10 less than their actual count about 8 or 9 didnt show. my other friend gave about 5 less than their actual count and 10 didnt show. i just have MAJOR doubts about a few people that rsvped yes.

so tricky! if you are not sure, maybe leave a table free for the unsures & have someone with escort cards for them in case they show- have a look-out at the cocktail hour?
