So I will be having my first fitting in August ( ) and I had a question. I have no idea what I'm wearing under my dress - I would love to discuss with the seamstress what she thinks is best and if they can sew cups into the dress. Can I just show up to my fitting with none of the stuff I'm going to wear the day of? Should I make a separate appt and come in and talk to her? I'm confused.

I would call to check. I was told by David's Bridal (where I got my dress) that I need to bring anything I am wearing under the dress and my shoes so they can properly measure.

When I went for my first fitting I brought the bra I was planning on wearing... but when I went for my last fitting they gave me a totally different bra to try on and it looked much better.
I would maybe bring something with you just so you have some sort of idea of how it looks and then if that doesn't work get something else.

Thanks ... I think this is what I will do! I am just trying not to spend copious amounts of money on something I will not need. This sh*t is expensive!

You need to bring/wear your bra and shoes with you to your first fitting. Otherwise, they can't start the alterations.
I'd call and see if you can go in and try your dress on to see what bra you need. I did that, took pics, and then brought the pics to Blums to buy my bra. You can also ask at the store what they recommend you buy when you're there trying on your dress.

I was told to bring everything with me. If you are doing cups- I think that'd be fine. I'd call ahead.
I brought the bra I thought I was wearing that, low and behold, I had to not use! It didn't work with my dress at all.

Thats exactly what they do... if you dont have the stuff that you are going to wear the day of, they wont start alterations.
