Question about Florist

I have only met with one so far, and I absolutely loved their work. I feel confident enough to book them asap, but I have 2 more appts coming up.

Do I book them now and cancel the other 2 appts? Or should I go to the other ones to see what they have to offer? I am clueless about flowers so I have no idea if my estimate is 'in line' with other florists.

I am afraid that if I wait for my 2 other appts and then I do not like them, the one I do like will be booked.

Need advice....

Thanks!

Re: Question about Florist

You can call the first and ask them to give you a call if someone comes along to book your date -- a semi hold without commitment.

Re: Question about Florist

Why dont you ask them to hold the date for you until after you've had the two appointments? Maybe they'll hold it for a week or two.

Re: Question about Florist

I know some florists will tell you if you don't book now, then you will most likely lose your date. They put that extra pressure on you. Good Luck, and make sure your happy with who you pick.

Re: Question about Florist

I honestly think you have time to check out the other two without worrying. If the florist is a decent size business than they do more than one wedding a day anyway. Good luck!

Re: Question about Florist

If you like 2 of the florist you already saw equally then I think you will be fine keeping your other appts. If one is booked you can go with the others.
I had 4 appts set up. I met w/ John from Flower Michele, booked him on the spot and canceled all my other appts.

Re: Question about Florist

The only florist I met with was the one I booked. She did hold the date for me until I told her my decision. I did not look elsewhere because I had looked at a lot of floral arrangement in books and magazines. I knew what I liked and what I was looking for. She was right on. So I decided not to waiste time looking at more people and we hired her.

Re: Question about Florist

go to your other 2 appointments and see what they could offer. that's how my fiancee and I did it until we found our florist, which was the last one on our list.

Re: Question about Florist

I would at least check out the other 2 florists. I know for me I thought after meeting with the 1st florist we went to I should book on the spot b/c I thought she was great. However, I'm glad I waited b/c I met with another florist who I love and am much more comfortable with and will book by the end of the week. So, it worked out for us. I also have approx. 19 months before the wedding.

But definitely follow your instincts!!!

Re: Question about Florist

Look, I can only give an opinion and if you truly feel that you might 'lose' the florist -- then follow with her. However, a reputable person in a service business is surely not naive enough to think that you are going to plunk down several thousand dollars without comparison shopping at all. Don;t ask her to hold anything. Say it just like this...(if you feel uncomfortable -- blame someone else, whomever --'My FMIL is insisting that we see other florists but I like your work. I am going to keep my other appts (I would not, btw share with whom the other appts are --in fact, I would take her quote and compare it with the otehr florists to see what you are getting.) However, I do like your work, and think you will be someone we consider using very seriously. If someone else presumes to take that date, I would appreciate a courtesy call. If not, fine.'
You can also move up your other appts if you feel such pressure but I think you will be fine.

Re: Question about Florist

I also just noted that your wedding is in October; I would be highly surprised if waiting one week really was the difference between a lost vendor but again, I can only advise. Either way, I hope it all works out as you wish it to.

Re: Question about Florist

In my honest opinion, if you love the florist you met with, go for it. I met with one I absoplutely loved....but then I was given another name and decided to meet with her also. Now, almost two months later, I am stumped. I like them both. I don't know what to do!

Good Luck to you!
