Do you have a friend that you must always call if you want to KIT or make plans? I was having a conversation with someone the other day about this...about how it's frustrating to always be the one calling, or to say 'well it's not entirely my fault...she could have called this number too'...
She said that you can't think this way - basically that it is normal to have a friend that is never the caller - but waits for you to call them.
Do you think that this is acceptable? Even with this mentality, I don't know if I could digest that for a long period of time without getting a little upset.

Re: Question about friends & picking up the phone
I tend to be the one that doesn't call. I do keep in touch by sending emails, but if someone wants to actually talk to me they usually have to pick up the phone. I have a phone phobia. I get weird even when calling to make appointments. I just think that I am interrupting someone's day. Where if I let them call me I know that they have the time and really want to speak to me.

I'm on both sides of that coin. I have some friends who I always call, and I have others that always call me. I know what you're saying about it being annoying, but sometimes out of sight means out of mind.
I use Livejournal to keep in close contact with my best buds from college - it's really useful.

Re: Question about friends & picking up the phone
I have two friends like this and over the years it has soured the friendship. After awhile I feel like I shouldn't always be the one chasing people down just to be a good friend. I will still call about major things, but I stopped getting upset when they never call back or keep in touch.
It is sad, but I am sorry - we are all busy, everyone has lives, but you have to make an effort to keep a relationship alive-it doesn't live on it's own and it can't be one-sided.

Re: Question about friends & picking up the phone
funny....
I have a friend like this. she used to return my calls after a week or 2, or more. I was always the one to initiate contact.
But now, it's the other way around and all she does is whine about it. This 'friend' is someone I am trying to get out of my life. she didn't come to my wedding because of (IMO) a lame excuse. she's not worth squat to me anymore!
