Ok so my RH has a big beautiful bridal suite they said we can show up as early as we want to get dressed, take pictures, etc. Basically we have access to the place the whole day my ceremony is at 2pm.
1. If I am doing my own makeup I should still but it on before the dress right or no? I am scared that I'll get makeup on the dress cause I heard it has to go on over your head and people have to help you put it on (that is a whole separate nightmare in itself)
2. Is it weird to take pictures together before the ceremony starts so you can be at cocktail hours?

1. Do you makeup before your dress and be SUPER careful not to get it on the inside of the dress when people are helping you put it on. You dont want to have your dress on, start doing your makeup and then drop bronzer all over your dress!!!
2. Pictures beforehand are totally up to you and what you want to do....there is no wrong and right way to do it!!

i'd definitely do the makeup before the dress goes on - maybe you can step into the dress?
i'm doing the samething, i plan to do pics before ceremony (FH would have seen me already anyway) and enjoy my cocktail hour!!

Def do make up after...and I agree with the idea of stepping into the dress. I have come to accept that my bridesmaids will see me in various states of nakedness...think about all the help you'll need to go to the bathroom
I think its fine to take pictures before....you want to be able to enjoy the wedding...especially the ch!!

As for pictures, I am taking pictures at my RH (the cermony is at a church - not at the RH) and there is about 2 hours between the end of the church and the reception - so that will hopefully give us plenty of time to take pictures before the cocktail hour. I want to enjoy my whole entire cocktail hour with my guests!!

def make up before the dress. Maybe you can put a scarf around your head/face when you are putting the dress on to prevent any make up getting on it.
as for the pics before the ceremony, FH and I have decided to do it so we can get them over with and go to our cocktail hour!

And there is nothing wrong with taking pictures before the ceremony so that you can attend cocktail hour, this is what we plan on doing, we want to enjoy our entire wedding and not miss anything

I'm undecided about whether or not you should put your makeup on before or after you put on your dress because I'm not sure what type of dress your going with or what type of makeup you use but when it comes to the picture, I think that it is perfectly fine to take the pictures before the wedding. We are taking our pictures before the wedding because we are getting married at night and I want to have my pictures taken in the day time so that I can take advantage of the beautiful flowers and plus I don't want to miss a minute of my cocktail hour. I want to enjoy every second of my day so if it takes us seeing eachother before the wedding so be it.

i would do makeup before the dress. and i think its ok to do pictures before the ceremony. but my fh is against it. he's a littls superstitious about it.

Definitely put on the makeup before putting on the dress and see if you can step into the dress.
I am one of the few I think who are not taking pictures before the ceremony. I will take pics with my BMs, and he will take pics with his GMs separately, but I just don't want to give up the idea of him seeing me in the dress for the first time walking down the aisle. It's one of the things that is really important to me. Plus, I'm a lil superstitious.

Makeup then dress. We are taking pictures after the ceremony but before the cocktail hour. We're going to have oodles or time... so why not?! I'm not missing my cocktail hour, plus it gives us time to get the 'Hi! thanks for coming... so good to see you' out of the way!!

1) definitely do your makeup b4 putting on your gown
2) a lot of people are doing their pics b4 the ceremony, this way it allows more time for them to join the party and even go to the cocktail hour.

Pictures before the ceremony are a personal preferance. Some people like to get them out of the way...other people like to be more traditional.

I'd do the makeup before the dress. If you want pictures before the ceremony and you want to keep it special, you can have the photographer set up a moment for you and FH where you come out and surprise him. This is cool b/c you still get that special moment and maybe will be less jittery for the walking down the aisle part, but it's entirely up to you and FH.

Like everyone has said, makeup before the dress. I was watching a concert on tv and they was showing the celebrity changing behind stage. She actually put a shower cap over her face to avoid getting the makeup on her outfit.
Taking pics before ceremony is totally a personal preference. My FH and I are doing it in order to conserve on time, but we're making the moment that we first see each other special.

You can do your makeup before. I am stepping into my dress, but for the girls who have to put them on over their heads, have someone pull the fabric gently away from your face and hair. Besides, if you do your makeup after, you risk bigger problems with makeup being on your clothes. Powder can dust onto your dress, foundation can splatter, you can drop the masscara wand etc. I remember when i went to a high end boutique and they were so scared of women damaging the dresses that they put this thing over their heads, (it look like a bag made of netting) and removed it after the dress was on... thats WAY extreme lol.
And my FH and i are so seeing each other before the ceremony to get the pictures out of the way. We want to celebrate with everyone else, and being that we are really not THAT traditional, we decided to just get it done with. Besides, the cocktail hour is the best part! Why waste it on pics lol.

pictures before are fine..thats what we are doing. our photographer got so excited when we said thats what we were doing since it lets her work at a more relaxed pace. we told her we had 2 hours and she requested a little more so we'll prob end up doing 3 hours of pics before the ceremony

3 hrs? I don't think I can do it I'll be to tired to go to my own ceremony! lol Or what if they just want you do it for longer so more you have to PAY??!!
