Question About Gown Sizing?

Question About Gown Sizing?

Kleinfeld's is having a sample sale next month. They have sizes 8 and 10. When I went to David's Bridal the other day, they said to put on a 6 b/c it's better to go a size larger which fit ok. Is a size 8 going to be way too big or too much of a pain to alter?

I was told not to believe the sizes on the dress. I tried on a 6, too small up top, then a 10 (in a different store) was way too big When they measured me to order, a 12????? they said to go my measurements. So who knows what goes on with the samples???

Bridal sizes are NOT universal. If you fit in a 6 at Davids, you could still be an 8 somewhere and a 4 somewhere else. It also depends on the cut of the dress, like an A-line is bigger at the hips so for someone like me ( ) I am small on top and can get a smaller size but if I were to get a fitted one, I would need a bigger size.
Definately go and check it out!
If you can get a deal and spend a little $ on alterations, it's worth it.

I believe that all designers are different. YOu can take a size 6 in one and a size 10 in another - it will have to be all trial and error.

I got my dress at a Kleinfeld's sample sale. (It was a trunk show sample.) My dress is an 8 and I am more of a 2 or a 4. It is much easier to take a dress in than to make it bigger. The ladies at Kleinfelds will be able to tell you if your dress can be taken in properly or not. My dress is fairly simple, so it will be relatively easy. But definitely, give the sample dresses a chance! Good luck and have fun!

Good to hear. They say their dresses start at $499 when it usually starts at either $1400 or $1600. I forgot which. They had a sample sale yesterday, but I only found out about it at the last minute. I am peeved that next month it's on Monday, Columbus Day b/c I do not have that day off, so I'm going to take the day off then. I guess I will plan other bridal shopping stuff that day, so it won't be a waste if I don't find a dress there.

Kleinfeld's sample sale..

I am dying to go to this place, I've heard so much about it.. but, do I have to call and make an appointment..i'm guessing not, since so many people go. Is it really worth it to go there? Are the dresses a lot cheaper?

Its better to go larger - because I ordered my size and It DID NOT FIT- so I had to spend another$50 for them to send that back and order a larger size- Take my advice- go bigger- because if its too small then you will have more of a headache adding on.
