I know I've heard that a lot of hair stylists want you to not wash your hair for 24 hours prior to when they style your hair which I get, but at the same time my hair is really fine and would look (and feel) so gross if I didn't wash it on the morning of my wedding..esp. by the time 6pm rolls around which I obviously don't want for my wedding look! Does anyone know of stylists that would let me do a trial and day of with clean hair?

Since your hair is thin...it really would be at your best intrest not to Wash it...Your hair will hold a lot longer. I would wash it the night before the wedding.
but on the other hand I don't think a hair dresser will tell you No about doing your hair just because you want to wash it! You have to feel comfortable that day and if this is going to bother you then Wash it!

You should wash it the night before and just use a drop of conditioner, so then it is clean and not too soft.

you don't understand..it will be totally greasy and itchy by noon of that day if I don't wash it! I wish it were a matter of it holding better!
I will have to discuss when I'm doing trials. I just don't want it to be a deal breaker (for me or the stylist!)

if you use baby powder on your roots it instantly soaks up any grease or oil :)

Re: Question about hair stylists and washing hair...
both my regular hair stylist and my wedding day stylist said 'no way' to washing my hair the day of. i plan on washing it the night before and styling it as usual so that it will not be limp. i find that when i get updo's, i never wash my hair because it holds longer but i never get itchy scalp. i thinks it's b/c my hair is pulled so tight that i don't feel anything.

you could just wet your hair in the shower and blow it out. That way it won't be greasy but it will still be coarse and will hold the style better.

I'm in your boat. I'm washing my hair. It's very fine and a greasy pit within a few hours.

Re: Question about hair stylists and washing hair...
I washed and blew out my hair as I normally do before I went to sleep the night before my wedding. Although I have think hair, I have the same problem that if I don't wash it every day, it looks oily and gross. But I didn't have that problem on my wedding day.

Re: Question about hair stylists and washing hair...
Most hair stylists will tell you that you shouldn't wash your hair every day all the time. I used to wash it every day, and know I have started washing it every 2-3 days, and I have to say it really makes a difference! It looks soo much better the day or two after it has been washed! So, I will wash my hair the day before and go to the salon to get it blown out professionally.

Re: Question about hair stylists and washing hair...
my hair is really fine and straight, so when it's clean, and they try to do my hair, it never stays. usually, they have to tease it with a lot of hairspray and make it 'dirty' so they can work with it better.
