Question about hotel for OOT

Question about hotel for OOT

ALL of FH's guests are OOT. If I block rooms at a hotel, do I have to give them a deposit?
Do you think its even necessary to block rooms or can I just give out the name and phone #of the hotel?

I think it would be safe to block rooms. There is usually NO charge, however, you have to confirm this w/your hotel. We will be blocking about 10 rooms in three different hotels in the area, giving our guests various pricing options.

I believe once it's closer to the date, you have to confirm/reserve the rooms, and if anyone backs you, there's a fee involved.

I would block rooms to be on the safe side. Most places do not require a deposit, but just ask before deciding on a hotel.

The hotels I blocked rooms at did not require a deposit and in my opinion, you shouldn't book with one that does. If no one chooses to stay there, you are out that money. The benefit to blocking the rooms is that you are guaranteed that the hotel will hold rooms for your guests up until about a month before the wedding. After that, they release them to be booked by anyone, and if your guests wait too long, they might not have rooms available. The other benefit is usually they offer your guests a slightly discounted rate and perhaps perks for you if you decide to stay there.

If you have a lot of OOT guests, it would be nice for you to block the rooms, but not required.

One of the hotels my mom looked (can't remember which one - sorry) said that if we blocked off X amount of rooms and only some are booked, we are responsible for the rest!!

Just be sure to ask. I would never book a hotel that wanted a deposit or expected me to be responsible for rooms not booked.

Block off rooms... I highly suggest Hilton Garden Inn...It's new and they're very nice there! That's where we went! (obviously! )

The wingate inn in Garden City would be fairly easy for your guests to get to from WM and they were wonderful to deal with!
