question about husbands...SO's

question about husbands...SO's

do you 'make' your husband hang out or become friendly with YOUR friends husbands or SO's...just so you can hang with them...

does that make sense...?

'make' - no...but if DH goes out of his way to say 'I really like hanging out with so-and-so' then I make more 'couple' plans....vice-versa, if DH says 'he's a total tool' - I avoid making couple plans.

Not really. We sometimes have get togethers with my friends but most of the time, we hang out with his friends because they are my friends too. We have been together for so long that it just has worked out that way.

I do have some girlfriends that I get together with when Jimmy is out of town. But we don't get together on a regular basis.

Agree with this. I want him to know my friends and their SO, but if it doesn't click, I don't aggresively push the issue. So far DH gets along awesome with my pals SOs

this is more along the lines...but do you see if there is common ground first...or just wing it for a night and if it's awkward, you know...

funnily enough, this has nothing to do with me..I was talking to my unlces' wife, and she's always foisting her friends SO's on to my uncle...

Re: question about husbands...SO's

We both have friends that would rather do 'couple' things than just 'girl/guy' things....and both dh and i still have single friends that we hang out with on our own....

Out of our couple friends..some of their dh's/so's are not my dh's cup of tea but he'll agree to come and then make fun of them after ...and vice/versa, he will gtg with some of his friends, and their wives are not neccesarily someone that i would choose as a friend....

does this make any sense??

we seem to hang out more with couples we are friends with versus if I am just friends with the wife. It just works out better. Or we hang out in groups alot.

The only way to find out if they'll get along is by doing it right? So to answer your question - we wing it for the night, and then determine whether or not it should be done again.

You also have to remember people may sometimes have other motives in 'couple' dates...ie: if I want to get plastered with a friend, DH can be the designated driver

Do I make him NO.
but when we do hang out with my friends and their s/o they tend to get along well.
to be honest we are mostly with his friends

Same here.
We've also been together for a long time. So through the years I've developed friendships with people and he's been able to do the same with their SO's. Also, our respective best friends met their finace's after DH and I were together for a while. So it's just kind of worked out.

No. He hangs out with who he likes to. If they happen to be my friend's husbands or SOs then so be it.

We both know each other friends. I don't hang out with some of his and he does not hang out with some of mine. Then we have friends (from either side) that we see together once in a while.

No, but then again, I kind of lucked out since DH came into my group (of couples) and really hit it off...he even asked two of my friends' (BMs) husbands to be in our wedding party (granted we had 24 in our BP, so one can argue that the prequisite to get in wasn't very tough).

With that said, we do tend to hang more frequently with those couples where we really get along with both partners in the 'couple'.

I know what you're saying and yes, it makes sense.

To answer your question, no I don't. My DH doesn't really care for some of my friend's DHs so I don't force him to hang out with them.

Most of the time we do 'girls nights' so I avoid it. But if we do a 'couples night' DH just ***** it up and comes along. But those nights are rare so he lives with it.

can never make my FH do anything he does not want to do. Lucky for me all his friends are my friends it makes things easier

Re: question about husbands...SO's

I am lucky because DH talks and likes everyone. He is the type of person that talks to strangers in the store. He is very outgoing and never has anything negative to say about people.
Me on the other hand.......dislike like 90% of his friends, their wives and he has to drag me to get together with them.

Re: question about husbands...SO's

i try to set things up and play couple matchmaker but if he doesnt like someone id never force him to do a double date

my dh usually likes everytone- so its never really a problem but we try to make plans with people we both get along with really well
