Okay my FMIL asked me this question and really don't know the answer and honestly haven't really given it much thought.
Here is the question,' In the invitation, do you include the question of what type of meal you want? Chicken? Beef? etc...'
I have received some invites that have and some invites that haven't. What's the proper way?

Re: Question about invitations ....
You DO if they aren't taking the orders at the hall.. Some places do it all before the guest arrive..
Our hall, we DO NOT include that, because the servers go around and ask everyone what they want. so they decide then.
Check with your hall.. I haven't been to a wedding where we had to choose on the RSVP in a while..

I didn't. I think unless your hall needs to know before hand. There is no reason for it. I personally never understood that. How am I supposed to know what I want to eat a month from now?

Re: Question about invitations ....
You definitely need to check with your hall on this one. I went to 15 catering facilities before we decided and only one made you have the order before the day of. Most will give you the option at the table, but there are a few that don't. If you do have to ask, you put it on the response card. In addition to the boxes saying they will/will not attend, you have the two options.

agree...i think that is annoying and strange, but each hall is different. but it is really a very good question!

Re: Question about invitations ....
I think its a very 'old school' tradition, and may still be common in other parts of the country. I I agree that you should ask your hall.

Re: Question about invitations ....
yeah, its more common in other places. I only had to do that for weddings in PA, CT & CA.
Check with the hall, but they probably would have mentioned it.

If your catering hall wants you to find out then you can by doing so on your response card. Thanks how they do it.
