question about leaving out dinner

if you eat your dinner, and then leave some on the table, how long can it sit out before it is too bad to eat?????

It'll be fine, just cover it with some plastic wrap. I don't know why, but my mother seems to think that putting it in the oven keeps it safe

I think you would be killing any bacteria by heating it. The hamburger may be kind of greasy though
