Question about minimums & bargaining...

From the looks of things right now, we might just barely cover our minimum (More guests from FH's side are now replying no, after he SWORE no one would reply no on his side!!).

Now considering he doesn't want to invite more people (although I do because we had cut people off the list in the beginning) do we now have any kind of bargaining power whatsoever when we meet with the hall in 2 weeks to go over semi-final arrangements? I feel like if we had more people, then maybe we would, but we will barely make the minimum, we might even fall a little below it!!!

The only thing I can say iis, say you're 10 people below and it's $100 p/p for arguments sake,s ee what you can get for that $1000? extra CH stations, ice scuptures, an upgraded cake, etc

I would definately send out more invtes. I just got the invite for my friends wedding this week which is a week before yours and I am her MOH. So you really have time to invite more people if you can get them out this week. No one will be the wiser.

It isnt too late to send out more invites. I just got one to a 4/29 wedding and I am in the BP so you still have time. Dont get stuck paying for plates that wont be eaten. Especially if there are people you want there that you havent invited yet. Go, print out those envelopes and get them in the mail!

I can see not inviting more people if you've made your minimum, but if you haven't and are paying for air, give those people you cut an invite...I'd rather see more smiling faces than an ice sculpture, if I could.

Perhaps you can add your photographer, videographer, your dj or band if you're planning to feed them.

I think that unless you meet the minimum requirements you must pay for the non-existent people as it is in the contract you signed I'm sure....that said, definitely try to upgrade as much as possible since you are paying for non-existent people. Or simply invite some more people so that the money is for sure going towards something other than the pockets of your reception hall. good luck.

Janna I would invite more peeps....you still have time...

I don't get the bargaining b/c WHY would the hall bargain when they already have you paying for those seats regardless? I guess just for good business practice

I don't get that either, but I guess places are willing to do it if you ask.

Re: Question about minimums & bargaining...

We just went through this!!!!!!!!!!!! We met with the hall on Saturday and explained we'd be about 25-30 people short. He told us he was glad we told him before 2 weeks to go. He is meeting with the other owners and is waiting for our official final count to discuss exactly what we want. He was very open to the idea of adding an extra hour, and possibly not paying for the 'extras' we first added. Talk to your hall!!!
