question about monograms

if you have a longer first name but *always* go by a nickname, have you been using your formal first name or the nickname?

ex: 'Tom & Stacy' v. 'Thomas & Stacy'

our ful names are thomas & athina. but EVERYONE calls us tom & tina.

we were going to use tom and tina, but decided against to b/c its we figured one day of formality wont kill us.
