I talked to our photographer today since they left a voice mail on the phone about how we owe money (1/3 now and 1/3 next month then the last payment when proofs are in) and i called to get exact amounts and the owner said that he is reviewing my file and maybe reassigning me a new photographer to suit our style. I am VERY happy over that but wanted to know this.
I made up a sheet of pics of the location I want our pics taken. It has directions, address and some candid shots of the place since no one knows it exists IoI.
SO on another sheet i made a must take list. Nothing like stating the normal pics photographers take just the things we think might be over looked with two samples.
Is this tacky to give to the photographer????

I think it looks ok, but I'm not really sure what photogs would be offended by....you do want to make it clear that these things are important to you, so I think it's alright. I'm not sure if you need the sample pics, b/c the descriptions seemed pretty clear to me, but maybe they're not!

So far I have a list of 22 formal portraits that I want. I will definitely be giving it to the photographer. I may also be giving it to my guests who are expected to be in them. I only have about 30 minutes carved in for ALL family photos. So..I need to be explicit and organized in order to get it done and get over to the CH. Absolutely give it to them. The only thing I would suggest is to minimize the wording in each of your items. Short, brief bulleted points are better comprehended. But definitely turn over a list of 'must have' shots.

I would absolutely recommend doing this. We did not and now that we are going through our proofs, we are realizing that we didn't get shots with or of important people... It wasn't our photog's fault, but we should have had a list, b/c on the day of, believe me, you aren't thinking straight.
I would recommend to ALL brides that you have a must take list of people and shots you want. Give it to the photog before the day of and also another copy on the day of so they are sure to have it. Don't assume that they will get everyone and thing that you want to photograph.

I definitely think it's a good idea. This is your one day to make the wedding perfect and once it's over there will be nothing you could do to go back in time and get pictures taken that you think you would have liked! (oh no, my advice is making my nervous, I think I may do the same for my photographer, haha!)
Anyway, def a good idea in my opinion

I think it's a great idea. I will be doing the same. My photographer is very 'artsy' and def. needs some tips on what shots we definitely want/need!!!!

i think its a great idea...maybe you can talk to him about it first tell him there are some shtos that you have seen and that you would REALLY like to take and then ...say u have made a list ...is it okay to give it to you?

I dont think the Photog would be upset-
I think it is important to have these 'instructions' I think it is the best way to get the shots that you would like!!
