Re: Question about negatives....

I did get my negatives when my album was finshed and my photographer also told me that most places will not make copies with them because of the copyright on them. He said he would alway's get me what I needed in the future(of course, he will get the $$), but I am glad I have them, just in case he ever went out of business.... They told me they give them to me because they don't have the room to store them.

I have a steel, fire proof box that I keep them in. They need to be stored in a dry, cool place. Humidity can ruin them.

Can you ask them for a letter authorizing reprints?

Christine, that's a good idea. I am going to mention that to mine. Thanks for posting.

Re: Question about negatives....

I THINK I was told that the copyright went on the proofs..so you couldnt have the proofs blown up, but I was told the negatives arent copyrighted. I wasnt told this from MY photographer, but from another one that I had been considering. Dont know if there is any truth to it or not.

Alicia-When I spoke to patken last week. I was told that the proofs have no marking except very small on the bottom, I assume its a copyright. When I asked about the negatives he said we could get them but they are copyrighted so no one will make copies except them (I think he said they are copyrighted for 7 years not sure though)
