Question about Number of People
Did you or are you going to give your hall the exact number of people who responded yes. I've been told that there are always no shows and that we should tell them a few less people. How many less should I say?

That happened to us. We told them an exact number (250) the week prior, and during the next week, about 5 more people canceled. The day of, there were about 6 no-shows.
But what happens if everyone shows? And won't they figure it out when you give them your placecards?
I was thinking about telling them 5 less than the number of people and if they call me out on it just telling them that those people are maybe's. I really don't know. I also don't know if 5 is too low a number to say (or too high). What do you guys think?
...and how do they set the tables? If you tell them, say, only 150 are coming and then 160 or something show.. where are they going to sit?
When we booked, we told the hall that about 85 people are coming, and we are keeping it at that number.
