Question about outer/inner envelopes

So I am inviting all of my single friends with guests. Some have significant others, some do not. My question is how do i address the envelopes.
option 1
outer: Ms. Jane Smith
inner: Ms. Jane Smith and Guest

or option 2
outer: Ms. Jane Smith and Guest
inner: Ms. Jane Smith and Name (if i know it)

I'm not sure what the ettiqute is

Thanks!

Re: Question about outer/inner envelopes

i put Ms. Jane Smith & Guest on outer and inner.. unless their guest was someone they were serious with and i knew him/her personally.. then i put Ms. Jane Smith & Mr. John Doe or something like that

I would just put her name on outer.
If u put her and guest on outer, u really dont need inner. JMO

Re: Question about outer/inner envelopes

My calligrapher only wrote the one person's name on the outer and added the 'and guest' on the inner. She said that's the way it's done, so I let her do her thing.

But, if I knew the 'and guest's' name, both were on the outer and inner. First and last names on the outer, last names only on the inner.

Re: Question about outer/inner envelopes

I always thought that the inner envelope was more informal- so the outside would be addressed to Ms. Jane Smith and the inside would be Jane & Guest or Jane & Boyfriends Name (if you know it)

Re: Question about outer/inner envelopes

I put just the friend's name on the outer envelope and 'and guest' on the inner. Unless it was a couple who lives together, then both names should go on the outer. For the inners, I only put the guest's name if it was a serious bf/gf...

I would write:
Outer Mrs. Jane Smith
Inner Jane Smith & Guest
