question about parents gifts

question about parents gifts

if your parents are NOT paying for the wedding, is it still expected that you buy them gifts?

I mentioned it to my mom, like 'what do you want' sorta off hand, and she was like, why would youget me a gift.? I was kinda relieved, but then, I wasn't sure if the other parents woudl be expecting it or what.

I can understand if they are helping out a lot toward the wedding, but if you are paying for the wedding yourself, then what?

I plan on doing something small anyway, like a nice frame for each of them that they can put our wedding photo in. But, I know some girls spend a ton on parents gifts.

I should add, there are 8 of them all together, all 4 parents are remarried....

we are doing something really small if anything at all. Our parents done expect anything from us and are so proud that we are paying for this all on our own and not asking for a penny from anyone. ( I think they are actually shocked that we didnt)
I think I nice picture frame or something like that is enough. Plus remember they are getting the parent albums & video after the wedding!

We are paying for most of it but we brought gifts for our parents. I also created a poem and scanned a baby pic of each of us (see 2nd pic).

I also brought my dad this. I am going to put a pic of us together when I was little.

id stick to the frame....

we are getting them a frame and giving them a picture from the photographer...

both sides are contributing to the wedding so we got them a small parents album and a video..
