did you have the money ready to go in an envelope or did you write out a check on the day?
both of my contracts are for 8 girls and the total price will depend on whether they decide to get extras (lashes, etc) so its not set in stone even though i've collected cash from the girls for the base price...
i'm not sure whether to ask the vendors to just give me a final amount to pay them or just to write a check for what they tell me on the day of...

I did cash in an envelope and a separate envelope for the tips for each. Since I know you have a DOC, make sure to have a separate 'petty cash'-type envelope around so you can adjust accordingly.
I know it's a lot of cash, but you don't want to be dealing with checks on your wedding day. Just not worth the hassle. And your vendors are going to like the cash so much more.

My vendors wouldn't accept checks day of. I paid everything in cash.

I was paying for part of my girls hair/makeup so I let the girls know aheadh of time what amount was left for them to pay and the night before the wedding I gave my MOH my money in an envelope and told her to get the girls money all together in the same envelope to have ready for the vendors the next morning.

I had the $$ ready in advance but last minute, my mom decided she wasnt going to have makeup done (time issue) and I wound up forgetting to deduct that $$ from the envelope... so they def got a much bigger tip than they were suppossed to... oh wells.. you live and learn!

yes, we did all cash except for our band which we did as a certified bank check (would have been insane to carry around that amt of cash until the end of the night)

I had all the final payments and tips in seperate envelopes in thank you cards.
I also had a stash of extra cash as a just in case fund(I did need a exrta $250 for things like hotel and what not after the wedding)
