Hi everyone: So there is a part of the photographer's contract that says that since the photographer 'owns' the rights to the pictures he is allowed to use them for promotional material, on his website etc etc, if he chooses. As flattered as we would be to have him use our pictures for advertisement, we would prefer he didn't. Anyone ask their photographer not to? If so-what was their reaction? Do you think this will be an issue? Thank you!

I've been to at least 3 photography studios to which I've noticed on their contracts that they all have a similiar disclaimer. I think the majority of photography stuidos claims this right to use your pictures, but if it bothers you that much, just let them know that you're interested in their work, but would appreciate it if they didn't use your pictures as an example, that you feel very uncomfortable, and if they can agree to not using you as a promotion, you'll sign the contract with them.

Usually they make you sign a waiver that says they can you use your photos. Tell him you do not wish to sign the form. Also you may have to pay extra to have the rights to your photos. Who are you using? Are you getting all photos on a CD?
We are getting all the rights to ours.

We're having a destination wedding (in south Florida) so it's someone down there. We don't even want the rights to our pictures, but would just prefer if he didn't put them on his website etc. I suppose he may tell us to pay for the rights then huh? Yes we are getting digital copies of all the pics. I really looove this photographer and don't want to cause any weird issue. Honestly it's more the fiance who is adamant about this than me....Oh well, I guess all we can do is ask....

Yeah, just ask or see if you can come to some sort of compromise of you can use pics, but no faces, something to that effect.
