question about place cards

When you have a family being seated together, how do you word the place card?
Mr & Mrs____ & Family?

Or do you have to have a place card for each of the children?
Help!!!!

If you are seating an entire family - The Smith Family is neater.

What about if we are sitting kids away from there parents (at a kids table)? Do we have cards for them, or should the MD just tell the kids where to sit?

i think you make separate placecards for kids not sitting with their parents. All the weddings I've been to I definitely got my own placecard.

If the children (under 16) are sitting with their parents I would write on a single card:

Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
Jack Jr. and Little Jill

If the children are sitting apart from the parents I would make three cards:

Mr. and Mrs. John Smith

Jack Smith Jr.

Little Jill Smith
